UNI Women's Basketball Hosts Delaware in WNIT Opener

THE GAME
UNI hosts Delaware in the first round of the Preseason WNIT. The game is the first of the season for both teams. UNI went 19-14 last season and rolled to an 89-41 win in the lone exhibition game of the season. Delaware was 20-12 last season and picked third in CAA.Â
The Panthers return four starters and 83 percent of its scoring from last year's MVC runner-up season.
Ellie Howell and Preseason All-Conference honoree Megan Maahs lead the way for the Panthers. Howell scored 10.9 PPG while Maahs tallied 10.2 PPG and 10.3 RPG in the 2017-18 season.Â
Delaware is led by junior Samone DeFreese who was named to the All-CAA Preseason Second Team. Third-year coach Natasha Adair returns four starters 10 letter winners from last season but will be without 2018 CAA Player of the Year Nicole Enabosi, who is recovering from a torn ACL.
