High-Powered Offense Leads to Panther Victory

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI men's basketball got off to a great start to the 2018-19 season, handily defeating the Beavers of Bemidji State 97-51. Tuesday's 97 points are the most the Panthers have scored in a game since November 30, 2015, when the Panthers defeated North Texas in the McLeod Center 93-70.
The Panthers started hot and never took their foot off the gas, dropping 30 points in the first ten minutes and entered halftime with a 49-24 lead. The Panthers backed up the first half performance with 48 more in the second half while limiting Bemidji State to 27 points.
Senior Wyatt Lohaus finished the night with a team-leading 19 points while shooting 7-15 from the field. Isaiah Brown had an efficient game, draining six of eight shots from the field and four of five from beyond the arc for 16 points. Freshman AJ Green shot fifty percent from the field to finish with 16 points and three assists.
Trae Berhow finished the game just two points shy of a double-double, bringing in 11 rebounds and eight points. Miles Wentzien totaled 11 points while bringing in four rebounds and one assists and one steal. Shandon Goldman grabbed a team-leading 12 rebounds while also recording two blocks.

With the opening game out of the way, the Panthers set their sights on the Mavericks of the University of Texas at Arlington. The Panthers defeated the Mavericks last season in the teams' first meeting. The Panthers will travel to Arlington, Texas for a 7 p.m. Nov 10.
