ARLINGTON, Texas – The UNI men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season Saturday night, falling 74-65 to the Mavericks of the University of Texas-Arlington.
The Panthers were unable to get the offense moving with the same efficiency it had against Bemidji State a week ago, shooting just 39% from the field and 13.6% from beyond the arc.
Just a few minutes into the game the sophomore Tywhon Pickford made his first appearance in 2018 after being sidelined with injury for most of the offseason. Pickford, a member of the MVC all-freshman team, managed seven points and three rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes of play.
Freshman AJ Green led the Panthers in scoring, ending the night with 17 points, five rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.
Isaiah Brown was able to play in front of a home audience in Arlington. With family just 35 minutes away in Flower Mound, a large crowd made the trip to support the junior guard. Brown finished the night with 15 points, shooting 6-14 from the field and 3-5 from the free throw line.
