UNI Women's Basketball Drops Heart Breaker to Boise State

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The UNI Women's Basketball team fell Saturday evening to Boise State 61-60 in a neutral site match at Beach Classic hosted by Long Beach State.
UNI led for much of the game, and shot well, hitting 24-53 from the field and 6-12 from the three-point line, but the Broncos ramped up the defense over the final five minutes of the game.
Boise State went on a 9-0 run to take a 61-58 lead with under a minute to play. Karli Rucker hit a pair of free throws to cut it to 61-60, but a three-pointer at the buzzer missed and BSU held on for the win.
Rucker led the Panthers with 22 points and Megan Maahs tallied a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Panthers are now 3-3 on the season.
PLAYER OF THE GAME…
Karli Rucker scored over 20 points for the third time this season. She went 8-22 from the field and 6-7 from the line to score 22 points. She also had seven rebounds and three assists.
PLAYER OF THE GAME TWO…
Ellie Howell was 6-7 from the field and 3-4 from the three-point line for 15 points.
STAT OF THE GAME…
The Panther defense held the talented Boise State team to 36 percent (25-70) from the field and 6-21 (29 percent) from the three-point line.
UP NEXT…
The Panthers hit the road for a game at IUPUI in Indianapolis on Friday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. CT. The Jaguars are 4-1 on the season and have one more game before UNI comes to town.
