Women's Basketball Returns Home with Road Victory

INDIANAPOLIS - The UNI women's basketball team played exceptional defense and three players scored in double figures to lead the Panthers to a 53-40 road win over IUPUI Friday.
The Panthers trailed 9-5 early but closed the first quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 13-11 lead after one. UNI outscored the Jaguars 19-10 in the second quarter and never trailed again.
IUPUI cut the lead to 37-30 in the third quarter, but the Panthers closed the quarter with a 6-0 run to take a 43-30 lead at the start of the fourth.
Karli Rucker scored a team-high 14 points while Mikaela Morgan and Ellie Howell added 10 each.
The Panthers were 20-51 (39.2 percent) from the field and 7-22 (31.8 percent) from the three-point line.
Defensively, UNI held the Jaguars to 15-46 (32.6 percent) from the field and forced IUPUI into 20 turnovers.
The Panthers move to 4-3 on the year while IUPUI is now 5-2.

Karli Rucker tallied three assists, five rebounds and her first career block to go along with her game-high 14 points.
THE STAT OF THE GAME…
IUPUI's Macee Williams scored 13 of the Jaguars' first 15 points but was shut out for rest of the game, including the entire second half.

The Panthers return home to face North Dakota Tuesday at the McLeod Center at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots Drive.
