YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The No. 22 UNI Panther football team made costly mistakes at inopportune times and fell to Youngstown State 31-10 on the road at Stambaugh Stadium in Youngstown Saturday afternoon.
The UNI offense struggled to find footing early in the windy conditions. Youngstown jumped out to a 14-0 lead, including a 4-yard touchdown after a UNI fumble was recovered deep in Panther territory.
UNI got on the board with a four-yard jump ball to Briley Moore in the corner of the end zone to cut the deficit to 14-7 at the half.
Youngstown scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and two Panther chances to respond were stalled because of fumbled snaps inside of the Youngstown five-yard line.
Marcus Weymiller led the offense with 19 carries for 89 yards. Tyler Hoosman also had a strong game with 71 yards on 10 carries.
Eli Dunne was 6-17 for 47yards and a touchdown. Moore pulled in the lone receiving touchdown.
A week after racking up 10 tackles for loss against Illinois State, the Panther defense tallied only three and forces a single turnover that did not result in points.
