UNI Volleyball Remains Perfect in MVC

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Panther volleyball team remains undefeated in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play, defeating the Braves of Bradley University 22-25, 25-11, 25-17, 25-13.
Karlie Taylor provided the offensive spark throughout the night, recording 23 kills and a service ace for a team leading 24 points. Jaydlin Seehase and Piper Thomas each recorded double digit kills, recording 15 and 12 respectively.
Rachel Koop set the offense for the Panthers, tallying 46 assists, her 4th most in 2018, and the second highest mark in a four set match. Keeping pace with her season average, Koop maintains her conference lead in assists per set with 11.53.
Saturday was a special night for Kendyl Sorge who moved into second place all-time in career digs at UNI with 2,003. Needing only 17 digs to enter the exclusive 2,000 dig club, Sorge's 20 pushed her past Amie Held's 2,002 and now only trails Ellie Blankenship and her 2,656 career digs.
While Sorge's 20 digs led the team, three other Panthers finished in double digit dig totals, Rachel Koop finished with 18, Karlie Taylor finished with 14, and Abbi Staack finished with 10.
The Panthers are now 12-6 overall and in sole possession of first place in the MVC with an unblemished 6-0 mark.

The Panthers will get a day of rest before hitting the court for another MVC match up on Monday, Oct. 8. The Purple Aces of the University of Evansville travel to Cedar Falls for a 7 p.m. showdown in the McLeod Center. Evansville is currently 7-13 overall and 1-6 in MVC play after falling to Missouri State in a 2-3 heart breaker Saturday night.
