Karlie Taylor Named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS – UNI's Karlie Taylor has been named Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Week after posting 61 kills and 42 digs in the Panthers 3 MVC victories last week.
Taylor started the week with a 20 kill performance against Evansville, an efficient night for Taylor who recorded only 3 errors on 38 attacks for an attack percentage of .447. The junior outside hitter added 8 digs, 2 assists and a block assist on the night.
Friday night Taylor and the Panthers defeated the Salukis of Southern Illinois 3-1 in Springfield. Taylor led the Panthers in kills yet again, recording 25 and finished with a .442 attack percentage. Defensively Taylor had 15 digs.
In Saturday's five set victory over the Bears of Missouri State, Taylor's defensive play made the difference. While recording 16 kills on the night, Taylor led the team in digs with 19, had 1 solo block and 4 block assists.
The Panther volleyball team host two matches in the McLeod Center this week for Homecoming. The Bulldogs of Drake University come to Cedar Falls on Friday, October 19 for a 7 p.m. match. The Bulldogs are currently 16-7 overall and 5-4 in MVC play. Sunday the Panthers will host Marquette University who is 17-4 and 8-1 in the Big East Conference.
