Panthers Defeat SDSU, 5-2

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team earned their first victory of the 2018 season, defeating South Dakota State 5-2.

In doubles action, the Panthers would take the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Gisela Kemper and Reghan Lynch defeated Theodora Kyriakopoulou and Katerina Tretyakova 6-2 in the No. 1 spot. Harri Proudfoot and Valentina Caro defeated M. Brower and S. Brower 7-6 (9-7).

The Panthers would win four of the six singles matches. Kemper would defeat Tretyakova 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles spot. Lynch defeated Emily Van Dijk 6-0, 6-2.

Proudfoot went the distance with M. Brower, winning 6-4, 1-6, 7-6. Caro rounded out the Panthers, defeating Velazco 7-5, 7-5.

The Panthers return to action on Feb. 10, hosting Milwaukee at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
