Panthers Defeat Jackrabbits, 169-131

BROOKINGS, South Dakota--The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team swam past the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State this afternoon, 169-131.
Katie Taylor swam to three first-place finishes this afternoon. In the 200 freestyle, Taylor timed in at one minute, fifty-three seconds, and seventy-three hundredths of a second. Taylor swam a 2:03.49 in the 200 backstroke. Taylor took first in the 200 IM, swimming in seven seconds ahead of Rinaldi. Taylor's finishing time would be 2:06.92, while Rinaldi took second-place, with a time of 2:13.82.
Madison Rinaldi narrowly grabbed first-place in the 100 backstroke, swimming a 59.48. Rinaldi took second in the 200 backstroke, timing in at 2:09.35.
Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder took first and second in the 50 freestyle. Florman timed in at 24.07, with Lembezeder following at 24.40.
Lembezeder would take first-place in the 100 freestyle, swimming a 52.65.
Florman swam to first-place in the 100 butterfly, swimming in at 57.48.
Kylie Engstrom and Jordan McCullough led all competitors in the 500 freestyle, taking first and second places. Engstrom timed in at 5:12.17, while McCullough swam a 5:15.07 Engstrom and McCullough would nab second and third places in the 1000 freestyle with times of 10:35.70 and 10:56.05 respectively.
The Panthers would take both relay events this afternoon. In the 200 medley relay, the Panther team of Taylor, Moriah Ross, Florman, and Lembezeder timed in at 1:46.70. In the 400 freestyle relay, Florman and Lembezeder would meet up with Maya Appleton and Rachel Siebenaller, swimming a combined 3:34.15.
Ross took second in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, with times of 1:07.14 and 2:27.94 respectively.
Siebenaller took second place in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:55.20. Siebenaller would also take second in the 100 freestyle, with a time of 53.02.
Alyssa Deuso led the Panthers on the 3-meter boards, diving into second-place with a score of 243.68. Senior Hannah Brummel dove a 229.43 for third-place. Brummel led the Panthers on the 1-meter boards, diving a 230.54. Izzy Bunchek dove a 224.02, with Jayden Lovell rounding the Panthers out with a dive score of 217.35.
Kelsey Ostrowski took third in the 200 butterfly, with a time of 2:13.51.
