CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad earned its second win of the day at the Culver's Governors Challenge with a 3-0 sweep of Middle Tennessee State.
UNI (2-0 overall) won by set scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-20.
UNI junior Piper Thomas put on a spectacular performance with 13 kills and a .765 hitting percentage. Thomas added five digs and four blocks to lead the Panthers to the three-set victory.
The Panthers jumped out early with a dominant 25-10 victory in the opening set. UNI hit .609 in the opening set with 15 kills and one attack error.Â
UNI hit .360 in the second set with 12 kills and only three attack errors en route to a 25-11 win over the Blue Raiders.
MTSU battled UNI in the third set, but the Panthers prevailed with a 25-20 advantage.Â
UNI will complete its action in Tennessee on Sunday by taking on tournament host Austin Peay at Noon.
