WATERLOO—The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis club defeated Upper Iowa today, 6-1.
Gisela Kemper and Sydney Wolfe teamed up in the No. 2 doubles spot to get the Panthers their win over Kelly Jachymowski and Shakhnaza Zhanatova, 6-3. Eve Small and Savanna Hunt would get the second win for the Panthers, netting a 6-2 win over Anna Okolot and Breanna Heichert.
Upper Iowa's Isabella Sella and Linn Sorman defeated Jieke Stroobant and Astrid Santos, 3-2 retired.
Santos defeated Zhanatova 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles spot. Kemper would net a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Sorman. Wolfe netted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jachymowski in the No. 3 singles. Hunt would nab the last victory for the Panthers, netting a 6-1, 6-1 win over Heichert in the No. 5 singles.
Upper Iowa's Okolot and Small would play three sets before Okolot pulled away for the victory in the No. 4 singles.
The Panthers return to action on March 14 in Orlando, Florida.
