No. 25 UNI Invades Missouri State Saturday

UNI GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – After going 3-1 against top-10 foes the past four weeks,25th-ranked Northern Iowa (5-4, 4-2 MVFC) looks to carry the newfound momentum on the road as the Panthers travel to Missouri State (3-6, 2-4 MVFC) on Saturday, Nov. 11.
"Missouri State is on a winning streak right now and has really progressed these last two weeks," head coach Mark Farley said. "It will be a test for our team and we're focused on Saturday's game and Missouri State. We never get too high or too low, we treat every opponent the same."
The Panthers and Bears will kick off from Springfield, Mo., at 2 p.m. CT. UNI owns a 31-5 record against MSU, with the Panthers taking the last 11 contests.

NEED TO KNOW FOR WEEK 11
- The Panthers' three wins over top-10 teams is the most since 2015's squad also downed a trio of top-10 opponents.
- For the month of November, head coach Mark Farley is an impressive 50-9 over his 17 seasons at UNI. The Panthers are 1-0 so far this season, with the recent win over No. 6 South Dakota last Saturday.
- The Panthers are 15-1 against Missouri State under head coach Mark Farley.
- Redshirt senior Keelon Brookins won the MVFC Defensive and Newcomer Player of the Week awards after his pick-6 against the Coyotes helped vault the Panthers to a 34-29 win.
- Junior Eli Dunne passed the 2000-yard passing mark last game, to become only the second UNI quarterback this decade to do so. (Sawyer Kollmorgen, 2012).
LAST TIME AGAINST BEARS
- UNI's Eli Dunne threw for over 400 yards and two touchdowns as the Panthers routed the Bears 61-7 at home. UNI gained 556 yards total for the game as the contest was never close from the whistle.
- The game marked the first-career start for Dunne as he rolled up the Bears secondary in an impressive performance.
- Elijah Campbell also had an impressive game against Missouri State, after taking two interceptions to the house for scores.
SERIES WITH MISSOURI STATE
- UNI owns Missouri State on the gridiron, with a 31-5 record against the Bears overall.
- The Panthers have won the last 11 contests, while going 15-1 against the Bears under head coach Mark Farley.
- UNI has outscored MSU 102-7 in the last two games.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Despite a 1-6 start to the season, Missouri State is now on an upswing and currently rides a two-game winning streak.
- The Bears have beaten winless Indiana State and Southern Illinois in the last two games, MSU also owns a victory over Murray State earlier in the season.
- Quarterback Peyton Husling leads MSU in both passing and rushing after earning 1,785 through the air and 621 on the ground.
UNI AGAINST THE MVFC
- The Panthers are 157-62 against the Missouri Valley Football Conference, with UNI going 85-40 during the Farley era.
- Over his 17 seasons at UNI, head coach Mark Farley has amassed a 50-9 mark in November.
- Farley has gone undefeated during November nine times (2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015) while having a losing record once during the month (2002).
- This season, the Panthers began November with a bang after upsetting No. 6 South Dakota to kick off this month's play.
CLUTCH CATS
- This season, the Panthers have been extremely efficient in the red zone with UNI scoring on 26 out of 28 attempts. UNI ranks fifth in the FCS for red zone offense.
- UNI has earned the majority of its red zone scores through the air, with 14 passing TDs inside the 20. That total is tied for seventh in the FCS.
LOSSES LOOKING BETTER FOR UNI
- The Panthers have lost to Iowa State, Southern Utah, Western Illinois and North Dakota State this season, those four foes have a combined record of 27-9.
- ISU and SUU have both knocked off top-10 foes this season, with the Cyclones beating No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 4 TCU and the Thunderbirds upsetting No. 8 Eastern Washington. NDSU leads the MVFC with a 7-1 record.
PANTHER DEFENSE VERSUS THE RUN
- Last season, the UNI defense held opponents to 119.7 yards per game to rank 16th in the FCS.
- The Panthers rank 48h in the country this season, allowing 138.2 yards on the ground per game.
- This week's foe - Missouri State - owns the 37h-ranked rushing attack, earning 180.1 yards on the ground per game.
PANTHERS AGAINST THE PASS
- The Panther defense has allowed a total of 267.1 yards passing per game this season, to rank 110th overall in the FCS.
- UNI has given up 19 passing touchdowns this season, with four coming against Cal Poly.
- This week's opponent - Missouri State - is ranked 55th overall in the FCS for passing yards per game, collecting 212.4 per contest.
BROOKINS' BREAKOUT
- Redshirt senior and Wisconsin transfer Keelon Brookins has made an impact for the Panthers over the last few weeks. The defensive back/linebacker hybrid has earned 22 tackles, 3.0 sacks, four pass breakups and one huge interception return for a touchdown.
- The interception return for a score helped vault the Panthers past No. 6 South Dakota 34-29 as Brookins was rewarded with the MVFC Defensive and Newcomer Player of the Week honors.
WEYMILLER'S COMEBACK
- Over the last four weeks, Marcus Weymiller has earned 453 yards rushing on 116 carries and four touchdowns. Weymiller had not run the ball this season before the SDSU game.
- The 42 carries for Weymiller against the Jackrabbits rank as the most by any FCS player this season.
- Weymiller is the first Panther back since David Johnson to earn at least two 170-yard rushing performances for his career. The back-to-back 100-yard rushing games for Weymiller are the first for a Panther since Aaron Bailey in 2015.
FOUNTAIN LEAPS INTO RECORD BOOKS
- Senior Daurice Fountain has put up monster numbers in his final season at UNI. The 6-foot-1 receiver has hauled in seven touchdowns this season, with 668 yards receiving.
- This season, Fountain has earned three 100-yard receiving games (all in consecutive weeks).
- The senior has 129 catches as a Panther, which is tied for eighth all-time, while his 18 career touchdowns are also tied for eighth all-time at UNI.
MULTI-TOUCHDOWN GAMES FOR DUNNE
- Dunne has earned 10 multi-touchdown games for his career, with seven coming in 2017.
- The junior threw a pair of touchdowns against Missouri State, North Dakota State and Western Illinois in 2016, while throwing three in 2017's season opener against Iowa State, four against Cal Poly, three against SIU, four against WIU, and a pair against SDSU, NDSU and USD.
UNI JUMPS INTO STATS FCS TOP 25
- The Panthers leaped into the FCS Top 25 this week, coming in at No. 25 overall.
- Despite taking down their third top-10 foe of the season last week, the Panthers remained outside of the FCS Coaches Poll Top 25 this week. UNI is receiving the most votes outside of the Top 25 with 51.
- The Panthers have defeated two teams from this week's FCS Coaches rankings, No. 5 South Dakota State (No. 7 on Oct. 9) and No. 10 South Dakota (No. 6 on Nov. 4).
PANTHERS AGAINST RANKED FOES
- UNI has 84 wins over Top-25 opponents all-time and 23 over Top-10 foes.
- In 2016, the Panthers were 1-5 against ranked teams. Four of the five ranked losses (No. 14 Montana, No. 8 Eastern Washington, No. 11 Youngstown State, No. 4 North Dakota State) were decided by an average 4.5-point margin.
- This season, the Panthers are 3-2 after wins over No. 6 South Dakota, No. 7 South Dakota State and No. 9 Youngstown State.
