
UNI Swimming and Diving Starts Strong

IOWA CITY, Iowa---The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team had a strong start to their season today, facing off against Iowa and Michigan State.
Katie Taylor continued to make a splash in the pool, taking first in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM. Taylor, who reset the MVC record in the 200 IM, swam a 2:00.26. Taylor swam a 55.55 in the 100 backstroke and a time of 2:00.26 in the 200 backstroke, respectively.
Moriah Ross swam into first place in the 200 breaststroke, swimming a time of 2:18.85. Ross received second place in the 200 IM, timing in at 2:09.05. In the 100 breaststroke, Ross was seconds away from first, swimming a 1:04.58. Â
The Panther relay team of Taylor, Ross, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder took second place in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:44.08.
Lembezeder swam to a third place finish in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 23.76.
Kylie Engstrom took third place in the 500 and 1000 freestyles, swimming a 5:10.94 and 10:36.15 respectively.
Tina Meyer, Olivia Knowles, Rachel Siebenaller and Abby Meyer swam into fourth place in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming in at 3:43.15.
Florman swam into fourth place in the fourth place in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 58.17. Florman swam into fifth place in the 50 freestyle, swimming a 23.97.
In the 100 freestyle, Lembezeder and Florman swam into fifth and seventh places respectively. Lembezeder timed in at 52.38 and Florman followed at 52.43.
Madison Rinaldi competed in the 100 and 200 backstrokes for the Panthers, swimming in at 58.94 and 2:10.22.
Lembezeder swam a time of 1.55.98 in the 200 freestyle.
Kelsey Ostrowski swam in the 200 butterfly for the Panthers, swimming a 2:12.91.

Diving
In the diving well, Alyssa Deuso had a dive score of 223.05 in the 1-meter competition. Hannah Brummel received a score of 219.35 and Izzy Bunchek dived a 209.40.
Brummel led the Panthers in the 3-meter diving, receiving a score of 234.20. Deuso scored a 224.80.
The Panthers will return to action on Oct. 13, hosting Nebraska at 4 p.m.Â
