WBB Conference Schedule Announced

FULL SCHEDULE
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Missouri Valley Conference released the 2016-17 women's basketball league schedule today, with the Panthers hosting nine home games in the McLeod Center.
UNI, the defending MVC regular season champions, will have a total of 15 home games this season, featuring the top talent in the country. The MVC season tips off for the Panthers on Friday, Dec. 30 at Missouri State, followed by the first game of 2017 at Wichita State on Sunday, Jan. 1.
The Panthers' league home opening weekend will take place on Friday, Jan. 6 and Sunday, Jan. 8 when they host the Southern Illinois Salukis and the Evansville Purple Aces. UNI will then hit the road again for a pair of games at Illinois State (Jan. 13) and Bradley (Jan. 15).
UNI will welcome Indiana State to the McLeod Center on Jan. 20 to start a three-game home stand that will include contests against Loyola on Sunday, Jan. 22 and in-state rival, Drake on Friday, Jan. 27.
On Feb. 3, UNI will play in the Hoosier state against Evansville and then head to Carbondale, Ill. for a game against Southern Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 5. UNI returns home on Friday, Feb. 10 to take on the Bradley Braves before a Sunday matinee against Illinois State on Feb. 12.
UNI takes to the road for the last regular season road games when they battle Loyola (Feb. 17), Indiana State (Feb. 19) and then to Des Moines, Iowa for the second part of the season series against Drake on Feb. 24.
The Panthers spend their final week of league play in the McLeod Center when they host Wichita State on Thursday, March 2 and Missouri State for Senior Day on Saturday, March 4.
The MVC Tournament will take place March 9-12 in the Quad Cities.
UNI returns a youthful squad in 2016-17, headed by three-year starter Madison Weekly. Weekly had a standout season in 2016-16, becoming just the second player in UNI history to score 600-plus points in a season. She earned All-MVC first-team for the second year in a row along with being named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Head Coach Tanya Warren enters her 10th season at the helm, holding an overall record of 162-130, ranking her second all-time in victories and No. 10 in the MVC. She had led the Panthers to the post-season in six of the last seven seasons, including a trip to the third round of the WNIT in 2016.
Off the court, Warren has stressed the word "student" in student-athlete with UNI finished in the top-15 in the country in team GPA in seven of the last eight season, including a No. 8 rank in 2016.
The Panthers open the 2016-17 season with an exhibition against Maryville on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
