UNI Sweeps Miami at Michigan Invitational, 3-0

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad started its season Friday with a 3-0 sweep of the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks in the opening match of the Michigan Invitational. UNI won by set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-17.
UNI senior Kayla Haneline led the way with 10 kills. Junior setter Heather Hook stuffed the shat sheet with 36 assists, eight digs, five kills and three blocks. Sophomore Bri Weber logged a team-high 15 digs to go with six kills. Senior Amie Held notched nine kills, eight digs and a team-best two service aces.
True freshman Karlie Taylor made her collegiate debut with three kills and a .750 hitting percentage.
It marked the first 3-0 sweep to begin a season for the Panthers since their 2013 season-opening win over Fairfield in Salt Lake City.
UNI will be back in action on Saturday with a pair of matches. The Panthers will take on Saint Louis at Noon and the tournament host Michigan at 6:30 p.m.
