WICHITA, Kan. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 7-0 decision at No. 22-ranked Wichita State on Saturday.
The Shockers (19-3 overall, 2-0 MVC) won their 28th straight home dual with their victory over the Panthers (3-12 overall, 0-2 MVC).
UNI pushed Wichita State at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles before falling 6-4 in both matches. At No. 1 doubles, WSU's Rebecca Pedrazzi and Aleks Trifunovic edged out UNI's Jieke Stroobant and Elvira Lopez, 6-4. At No. 3 doubles, WSU's Gabriela Porubin and Tanaporn Thongsing scored a 6-4 triumph over UNI's Sydney Wolfe and Eve Small.
The Shockers prevailed in all six singles matches with the closest outcome coming at No. 3 singles. WSU's Julia Schiller scored a 6-1, 6-3 victory over UNI's Astrid Santos.
UNI will be in action Sunday at Missouri State.
