
Men's Golfers Take 10th at ORU Shootout

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team placed 10th at the 2016 ORU Shootout played at Forest Ridge Country Club.
Individually, UNI was led by Dustin Atkinson's tie for 27th with a three-round total of 228. Atkinson posted a final round 76, which included birdies at No. 9, No. 13 and No. 18. Atkinson has scored a sub-80 round in 15 consecutive rounds. It also marks the 22nd time this season that Atkinson has posted a round in the 70s.
David Spengler scored UNI's lowest round of the day with a 74, which tied for his lowest round of the season. Spengler notched a trio of birdies on Tuesday at No. 5, No. 9 and No. 17. Spengler tied for 56th overall.
Kyle Driscoll buried two birdies in his final round at No. 8 and No. 18. Driscoll shot a final round 76 for a three-round score of 230 and tied for 36th.
Jacob Bermel led the Panthers with eight birdies in the 54-hole tournament. Bermel posted a final round 77 for a total of 234 strokes in the tournament. Bermel recorded four birdies on Tuesday at No. 3, No. 7, No. 9 and No. 16.
UNI placed 10th out of 11 teams in the field with scores of 318-306-303 (927). Arkansas State won the team title with scores of 294-289-293 (876).
UNI will be in action again April 25-26 at the MVC Championship meet. This year's league tournament will take place at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
