IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday.
Iowa tallied wins in the first two doubles matches to earn a 1-0 dual lead. UNI's No. 2 doubles team of Astrid Santos and Sydney Wolfe came up short in a 6-4 decision to Iowa's Natalie Looney and Aimee Tarun. UNI's No. 3 doubles team of Eve Small and Savanna Hunt trailed Iowa's Annette Dohanics and Adorabol Huckleby, 5-4, before the match was stopped after Iowa had clinched the doubles point.
Iowa's No. 3 doubles team of Annette Dohanics and Adorabol Huckleby edged UNI's Eve Small and Savanna Hunt, 6-4.
At No. 1 singles, Iowa's Reimchen Anastasia notched a 6-4, 6-1 win over UNI's Jieke Stroobant. UNI's Elvira Lopez lost a 6-2, 7-5 battle against Iowa's Kristen Thoms at No. 2 singles. The Hawkeyes dropped only six combined games in the other four singles matches.
Iowa improved to 7-2 overall, while UNI dropped to 1-6 in dual action.
