Iowa State Stops UNI in Tennis, 4-0

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's tennis team recorded a 4-0 win over the University of Northern Iowa Friday at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Club.

Iowa State improved to 8-1 overall, while UNI dropped to 1-5 on the season.

UNI's No. 3 doubles team of Sydney Wolfe and Eve Small scored a tiebreaker win over Iowa State's tandem of Regina Espindola and Ana Gasparovic, 7-6 (7-4). The win moved the mark of Wolfe and Small to 2-0 in doubles action this dual season.

However, Iowa State's top two doubles teams notched wins to secure the doubles' point for the Cyclones.

Iowa State closed out the match by scoring singles' wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5. ISU's Samantha Budai took down UNI's No. 1 Jieke Stroobant, 6-3, 6-1. ISU's Alejandra Galvis won a shortened match vs. UNI's Gisela Kemper at No. 4 singles. Kemper was unable to finish the match after falling down 3-0 in the opening set. ISU's Claudia Toledo picked up a 6-2, 6-1, win over UNI's No. 5 Sydney Wolfe.
