Panthers Stumble in Season Finale, Fall 2-0

The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team finished off regular season play Thursday night, falling to conference champion Illinois State 2-0. With the finale in the book the Panthers finish the regular season 8-7-3.
The Panthers faced relentless pressure through the first half being out shot 12 to three in the period. The Panthers best look of the half came to Sydney Hayden, whose shot just outside the six yard box was deflected for a corner.
The second half featured a more offensive Panthers team, pushing the Redbirds into their own half. Sarah Brandt registered two quick shots, both flying just wide of the mark.
The match appeared to be headed to a draw with both teams locked in midfield. The Redbirds would capitalize late with two quick goals.
Morgan Teel led the Panthers with three shots, followed by Sarah Brandt with two, and Marianne Gagne and Sydney Hayden registering one.
The Panthers now await playoff seeding dependent upon other games.
