Last Time Against Youngstown State: The Panthers and the Penguins haven't played each other since 2013, with UNI coming away victorious. UNI picked up a 22-20 win over No. 9 Youngstown State on a 34-yard field goal as time was running out from Tyler Sievertsen.
Unfamiliar Territory: UNI only has five players on the current roster that have faced off against Youngstown State. Karter Schult, Charles Brown, Jamison Whiting, Robert Rathje and Trevor Hanson all saw action in UNI's win over the Penguins in 2013, but no current Panther has set foot in the "Ice Castle."
Tough Road: UNI has the toughest schedule in the FCS, based on cumulative opposition (winning percentage of past and future opponents), through games of Oct. 8. Four MVFC teams rank among the Top 12 in the FCS.
Â
Keeping the Ball: UNI is ranked No. 4 in the FCS in time of possession, controlling the game for an average of 34 minutes per game. UNI also leads the Valley in the category, holding its opponents to only an average of 25 minutes.
Twice as Nice: Tyvis Smith rushed for 102 yards against South Dakota (10/8), his second game this season with 100-plus yards on the ground. He had 130 against top-25 ranked Montana. It was the sixth time in his career he has rushed for over 100 yards.
Â
Carry Numbers: Senior Aaron Bailey had a career high 30 carries during UNI's game against South Dakota (10/8), finishing with 95 yards and two rushing touchdowns. His previous career-high rushes was set against Portland State in the playoffs last season when the Bolingbrook, Ill. native rushed 26 times for 200 yards.
Back-to-Back: Malcolm Washington has come up with key interceptions in back-to-back games for the Panthers. The Fresno State transfer scored his first pick-six in a Panther uniform against Southern Illinois, following it up with an interception in the third quarter against South Dakota.
To the Field: After battling an injury throughout the first part of the season, redshirt freshman Jackson Scott-Brown started against South Dakota (10/8) at left guard. It was his first-career start.
Above Average Rusher: Aaron Bailey finished the game against South Dakota (10/8) with 95 yards on the ground. He currently ranks No. 2 all-time at UNI in career rushing yards per game, averaging 92.1 yards through 19 career games in the Purple and old Gold. He trails current Arizona Cardinal, David Johnson, who averaged 95.7 yards through 49 games.
Double Threat: Aaron Bailey has proved to the country that he is a dual threat quarterback, scoring a total of 44 touchdowns (rushing/passing) in just 19 games. He ranks No. 15 all-time at UNI and just needs 10 more to crack the top-10 to tie Sawyer Kollmorgen and current associate head coach Bill Salmon, who both have 54.
Making the Rounds: Michael Malloy posted one of his most well-rounded games as a Panther, racking up 76 all-purpose yards against South Dakota (10/8). He finished the game with 37 rushing yards, 26 yards through the air that included a 17-yard touchdown, and added 24 yards on kick-off returns.
