WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team fell to IUPUI 3-2 on Saturday afternoon after taking an early 1-0 lead.
The Panthers (2-2-2) scored just over five minutes into the contest as Annie Dale found Amber Nieland on a cross for the first goal.
IUPUI took control 23 minutes later as they tied it up before scoring two more goals within the next four minutes for a commanding 3-1 lead.
Down two goals, the Panthers put the pressure on IUPUI early in the second half and were rewarded as Dale took a cross from Katie Witt and directed it into the back of the net to cut the Cougars' lead to 3-2. UNI continued to pressure the IUPUI defense for the remainder of the game, but were unable to come up with the equalizing goal.
UNI will continue their homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 8 when they take on Western Illinois at 7 p.m.
