
UNI Defeats Alabama, 3-1

DEKALB, Ill. – The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad scored a 3-1 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Huskie Invitational. UNI won by set scores of 29-27, 20-25, 25-23 and 27-25.
UNI improves to 5-7 on the year, while Alabama slips to 5-8 overall.
Junior Amie Held recorded a career-high 30 digs. Held's 30 digs were the most by a UNI player since Candice Burke registered 35 digs vs. Evansville on Oct. 12, 2012. Held's 30 digs were also the fifth-highest total in a four-set match in UNI's history.
Held moved into No. 8 place on UNI's all-time digs list. Held moved past Mary Bernhardt (1984-87) in the victory. Held has tallied 1,210 career digs.
Sophomore Heather Hook flirted with a triple-double with seven kills, 10 digs and 52 assists. Hook's seven kills set a career-high. Junior Lindsey Schulz notched a season-high 14 kills and registered a .343 hitting percentage. Junior Kayla Haneline led the Panthers with 16 kills and had a .500 hitting percentage with only three attack errors vs. the Crimson Tide.
UNI boasted team season highs in kills (73), digs (83), assists (68) and hitting percentage (.283).
UNI evened the all-time series vs. Alabama at 2-2 with the win on Saturday.
UNI will close play in the Huskie Invitational later tonight at 7:30 p.m. against the host Northern Illinois Huskies.
