CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa cross country team will head to Lincoln, Neb. for the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Â
The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Pioneers Park. The women will run a 6K while the men will complete an 8K.
Â
The Panthers had success last season at the Nebraska Invite, with seven athletes between the men's and women's programs notching top-25 finishes in a stacked field. This year, UNI will compete against some of the best competition in the region, including Nebraska, Creighton, Air Force and MVC foe Wichita State.
Â
UNI kicked off its 2015 season at the Early Bird Invitational in Iowa City two weekends ago. Shane Kirchoff started his senior campaign with a top-10 finish in the men's 6,000 meters. His time of 19:20.20 was good enough for an eighth place finish out of 46 competitors. Trai Bunch was UNI's second runner through the finish line, coming in 20th place overall with a time of 19:34.70.
On the women's side, the Panthers were led by Kelsey Kirchoff and Brette Correy, who both finished in the top-10. Kelsey notched a sixth place finish in the women's 3K, grabbing a time of 10:32.30. Correy was able to score an eighth place finish with a time of 10:37.10.
