OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team played into their third overtime in as many games, earning a 1-1 draw with Nebraska-Omaha on Friday evening.
Annie Dale scored her third goal of the season, putting the Panthers (1-0-2) up 1-0 just after the 13 minute mark. The goal marked her third in as many games, making her one of three UNI players to have a goal in three straight contests dating back to when Chelsie Hochstedler and Nicole Ferlito went on a similar run in the 2008 season.
"(It was) good for Annie to score again as it's always nice to have a confident, consistent goal-scorer but we need other attacking players chipping in too," said UNI Head Coach James Price.
The Mavericks tied up the contest just before halftime, scoring from the 18-yard box for the final goal of the contest.
"Good effort and better play from us tonight," said Price. "I thought we really dominated the second half without really testing their keeper. Overall a good result on the road against a good team."
UNI will return home on Sunday to take on Eastern Illinois at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex at noon. The game marks the annual Food Drive for Northeast Iowa Food Bank contest, where fans bring nonperishable food items to donate. Admission is free.
