Panthers Get Back to Winning Ways By Edging Braves, 4-3

PEORIA, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team got back to its winning ways on Friday with a 4-3 win over the Bradley Braves.
UNI (11-5 overall, 1-1 MVC) won the doubles point to begin the match at No. 3 doubles when Savanna Hunt and Sydney Wolfe posted a tiebreaker win over Bradley's Aimee Manfredo and Liz Przystawski, 8-7 (7-3). UNI's No. 2 doubles pairing of Astrid Santos and Jieke Stroobant posted an 8-4 win over Bradley's Airel Dechter and Irinka Toidze. Santos and Stroobant are now 6-1 on the season at No. 2 doubles.
The Panthers were able to split the six singles matches with the Braves to clinch the dual victory. UNI got singles wins from Erica Medlin, Stroobant and Santos. For Medlin it was her sixth straight win at No. 1 singles and moved her mark to 10-6 on the season. Stroobant posted her 11th consecutive singles victory and improved to 14-2 in dual play (20-8 overall).
Bradley fell to 9-8 overall and 0-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
UNI will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Illinois State Redbirds in Normal, Ill.
