Panther Tennis Takes Two; Home Win Streak Improves to 15 Straight

WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team produced a pair of victories on Sunday to move to 6-3 on the season and run its home-win streak to 15 consecutive matches.
UNI began the day with a 4-3 victory over Milwaukee and closed it out with a 6-1 triumph over Upper Iowa at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
UNI 4, MILWAUKEE 3
UNI was able to post a 4-3 dual win over Milwaukee. UNI scored two wins in doubles action to secure the doubles point. The point came down to No. 2 doubles where UNI's Erica Medlin and Sydney Wolfe were able to tally a 7-5 win over Milwaukee's Dana Shannon and Aerielle Pendleton.
UNI then proceded to win the singles matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 to tally the dual victory. Jieke Stroobant cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dana Shannon at No. 2 singles. UNI's Erica Medlin notched a 7-5, 6-1 win over Chelsea Bailey at No. 1 singles, while Elvira Lopez won a tight battle with Alysa Straub at No. 3 singles, 7-6, 6-4.
UNI 6, UPPER IOWA 1
The Panthers won their 15th straight home dual with a 6-1 triumph over the Peacocks.
The doubles point came down to a tussle at No. 3 doubles where UNI's Gisela Kemper and Savanna Hunt scored a 6-4 win over UIU's Victoria Kulbokas and Anna Okolot.
UNI's top five singles players did not drop a set in winning five matches. Kemper tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over Okolot, while Wolfe secured a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kulbokas at No. 5 singles.
UNI continue its home-court action by playing host to Iowa State on Wed., Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
