UNI Blasts Bradley, 80-44

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team recorded its largest margin of victory in a Missouri Valley Conference game as the Panthers blasted the Bradley Braves, 80-44.
The Panthers's 36-point victory eclipsed a 34-point triumph over the Braves on Jan. 1, 2014, in the McLeod Center.
UNI (9-5 overall, 1-0 MVC) was led by Jeremy Morgan's 18 points and six rebounds. Bennett Koch added 15 points and four rebounds. Wes Washpun, the MVC leader in assists, dished out a game-high six helpers. Bradley (2-12 overall, 0-1 MVC) did not have a double-figure scorer and shot 33.3 percent from the floor.
UNI and Bradley were tied 9-9 before the Panthers held the Braves without a point for 7:20. UNI used a 13-0 run from the 15:16 mark to the 7:56 . UNI led 46-28 at the break following a 3-pointer before the buzzer by Paul Jesperson.
The Panthers led by as many as 40 points in the second half at 79-39 with 4:17 remaining in the game. UNI out-scored Bradley in the second stanza, 34-16.
UNI will travel to Carbondale, Ill., to take on the Southern Illinois Salukis on Saturday at 7 p.m.
NOTES: UNI has won 13 consecutive home MVC contests ... UNI moved to 39-5 when scoring 80 or more points under head coach Ben Jacobson ... Jacobson improved to 19-5 against Bradley ... UNI shot 58.7 percent from the floor, including 69.6 percent from the field in the first half.
