
UNI, North Dakota Play to 1-1 Tie

GRAND FORKS, North Dakota - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team traveled to North Dakota on Sunday where the teams played to a 1-1 tie.
After Friday's 3-0 victory, the Panthers continued the offensive production by putting up a season high 27 shots against UND. Senior Charlotte Jones led the offensive attack for the Panthers as Jones had a team high 10 shots.
UNI's Amber Nieland opened up the scoring for the match with her first goal of the season from the assist of Sarah Brandt and Caitlyn Fuller.
Two minutes after Nieland's goal, UND's Emily Smithson scored off of a free kick from 40 yards out.
The Panthers went on to the second half where UNI put up 12 shots against UND. One of those 12 shots came with less than eight seconds left from UNI freshman Sarah Brandt, but UND's keeper, Kristi Hestdalen, was able to record the save. Hestdalen recorded a total of 10 saves on the day.
After the close call to end regulation, the Panthers went into their third overtime game of the season where the Panthers continued to put up seven shots between the two combined overtime periods.
Unable to find the net again, the Panthers settled for a tie and look to next Friday.
On Friday, the Panthers will face Grand View in Waterloo. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
