DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa track and field team finished the second day of competition today at the Drake Relays with Rachel Peth and Ben Lindaman scoring personal-bests in the heptathlon and decathlon.
"This was a great start to the Drake Relays for the Panthers," head coach Dan Steele said. "Ben going over 7,000 points was terrific and Rachel was also impressive in her first heptathlon. We are excited to see these athletes continue to improve."
Lindaman opened day two with a decathlon personal-best in the 110 meter hurdles. He finished with a time of 15.20 to place sixth overall. In the discus, he placed seventh overall with a season-best toss of 123-02.
After a rain delay, the pole vault portion of the competition resumed indoors. The senior opened the competition with an outdoor personal-best, notching a height of 15-01.00 to tie for second overall.
He followed his pole vault PR with a top-three finish in the javelin, placing second with a throw of 194-10. He closed out the competition with a season-best in the 1,500 meters, coming in with a time of 4:51.52.

Peth placed 10th in her first-ever Drake Relays heptathlon, finishing with a personal-best point total of 4,635. She opened the day with a mark of 16-7.75 in the long jump.
She went on to have a solid mark in the javelin, placing fourth overall. The junior threw for a distance of 116-09, setting a new personal-best in the event. She finished the heptathlon in the 800 meters, notching a time of 2:37.20 for another PR to end the day.
