Sycamores Stop Panthers in Four at Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad dropped its second match in as many nights as the Indiana State Sycamores scored a 3-1 win over the Panthers. Indiana State won by set scores of 25-23, 25-12, 21-25 and 25-23.
Indiana State moves to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while UNI drops to 12-8 overall and 7-2 in league play.
UNI led 16-14 midway through the first set, but the Sycamores were able to rally and take the lead at 18-17. UNI closed to within 23-22 and 24-23 before the Sycamores closed out the first set, 25-23.
The Sycamores jumped out early in the second set with a 5-1 lead. Indiana State did not let up and closed the second set on a 9-2 run to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-12 victory.
UNI posted a 25-21 win in the third set. UNI scored five of the final six points of the third set after the squads were deadlocked at 20-20.
Indiana State climbed out of an early 6-2 deficit and tied the fourth set at 9-9. UNI came back and took a 15-13 lead before Indiana State responded again and tied the set at 22-22. The Sycamores were able to hold on and secure the win with a 25-23 win..
UNI will play again on Tuesday at South Dakota State. The match will begin at 6 p.m. in Brookings, S.D.
NOTES: Lindsey Schulz led the UNI attack with 14 kills ... Kinsey Caldwell added 41 assists, seven kills, six digs and three blocks ... Eryca Hingtgen posted a team-best 11 digs.
