Panthers defeated by Jaguars 2-1

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Northern Iowa Panthers were in Indianapolis Indiana on Sunday, matched up against the IUPUI Jaguars for a non-conference game.
The Jaguars opened up the scoring in the 3rd minute of the game. Torri Minnich passed to Sarah Carlisle who crossed to Kalli Shepler-Tucker for the game's first goal. The Panthers would quickly respond seven minutes later when sophomore Annie Dale scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Maggie Riley.
After the intermission Panthers coach James Price made a switch at goalkeeper, exchanging starter Nicole Postel for senior Erin Zaideman. The Jaguars took the lead back in the 54th minute when Kalli Shepler-Tucker gathered a rebound and passed to Grace Perkowitz for the eventual game-winning goal.
UNI was outshot by the Jaguars 16 to 10. Maddie Welch, Mary Brandt, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Amber Nieland and Charlotte Jones each recorded one shot. Brady Clark and goalscorer Annie Dale both recorded two shots apiece.
Brandt and Welch's shot attempts were on goal but IUPUI goalkeepers Giselle Guzman and Nicole Kulovitz combined for three saves to one goal against. Kulovitz notched the win while Erin Zaideman suffered her first loss of the season.
Today's game marked first appearances for both Zaideman and Charlotte Jones. Jones played 30 minutes and Zaideman played the entire second half.
IUPUI kicked five corner's to the Panthers two.
The Panthers will be back at home for their next match when they will faceoff against conference foe Evansville at 1p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
