
Panthers drop match to Cyclones 2-0

CEDAR FALLS, IA - The Iowa State Cyclones traveled to Cedar Falls for a Friday night matchup against the Panthers. The Cyclones came into the match with a 4-4 record. The Panthers were taking the momentum they had gained from a narrow 2-1 overtime loss to rival Iowa into the match vs. Iowa State.
The Cyclones would open the scoring in the 10th minute when Koree Miller snuck one past UNI goalkeeper Nicole Postel. Miller was assisted on the goal by Jessica Reyes.
Iowa State would strike again in the 66th minute when Kourtney Camy scored unassisted from outside the box on a curving shot.
The Cyclones defense stifled the Panthers throughout the match. UNI recorded zero shots on goal and attempted zero corner kicks. The Cyclones were able to take 22 shots and attempt 7 corners.
Cyclone goalkeeper Maddie Jobe earned the victory with her shutout performance. Panthers goalkeeper Nicole Postel recorded seven saves in her loss. Postel was substituted for in the 69th minute after colliding with an Iowa State player at the edge of the goalie box. Redshirt Freshman Whitney Blunt subbed in for Postel.
The Panthers will be back in action on Sunday, Septemeber 22nd at noon against South Dakota in Vermillion.
