UNI Posts 4-3 Win Over Creighton

WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis squad scored its first Missouri Valley Conference win for head coach Mariana Cobra with a 4-3 win over the visiting Creighton Bluejays. Sunday's match took place on the indoor courts of the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
UNI (7-7 overall, 1-2 MVC) got the dual off to a strong start by winning the doubles point. The Panthers' No. 1 duo of Phoebe Walker and Krissy Lankelma disposed of Creighton's Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder, 8-3. The Panthers' No. 2 squad of Chelsea Moore and Jessica King notched an 8-5 win over CU's Jennie Hartjes and Amanda Noonan.
The Panthers then earned three singles' wins to net the dual victory. Walker had to battle to a third-set set win over CU's Hartjes, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Lankelma scored a straight-set victory over CU's Analese Snyder at No. 2 sinlges, 6-1, 6-4. King earned the Panthers' third singles' win at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over the Bluejays' Noonan.
UNI will be in action again at home next Saturday against Evansville.
NOTES: UNI's No. 1 doubles team of Phoebe Walker and Krissy Lankelma has posted a mark of 18-6 this season ... the duo has also gone 10-4 in dual action ... today's doubles' win for Walker was the 80th career doubles victory for the Australian native.
