Evansville Edges UNI, 4-3

WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the University of Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday. The matches took place at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
UNI (7-8 overall, 1-3 MVC) won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. However, Evansville (7-8 overall, 2-2 MVC) came back and won four of the six singles matches to take the dual victory.
The Panthers' No. 1 pairing of Phoebe Walker and Krissy Lankelma improved to 19-6 on the season (11-4 dual matches) with an 8-6 victory over Evansville's Natasha James and Marketa Trousilova.
UNI's No. 2 doubles duo of Chelsea Moore and Jessica King notched an 8-5 win over Evansville's Kelsey Costales and Marina Moreno. The win was the 11th on the season for Moore and King. The pairing has also won nine doubles matches in dual action as well.
The Panthers were limited to only two victories in singles play as the wins came from Walker and King. Walker went three sets with Natasha James and pulled it out by the score of 6-1, 6-7 (0-7), 6-4. King won in straight sets over UE's Mino Milovic, 6-3, 6-2.
UNI will wrap up its home portion of the schedule on Sunday against the Southern Illinois Salukis. The Panthers and Salukis will get underway at the Black Hawk Tennis Club at 10 a.m.
NOTES: Walker is 18-5 in singles play this season, including a 12-3 mark in dual action ... Walker has won 81 career doubles matches after today's victory at No. 1 doubles.
