AMES, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Iowa State Cyclones on Friday. The match took place the Ames Racquet and Fitness Club.
UNI (6-5 overall) tallied its lone win at No. 1 singles where Phoebe Walker scored a third-set tiebreaker victory over Iowa State's Simona Cacciuttolo. Walker won the first set, 6-2. Cacciuttolo rallied to take the second set, 7-5. Walker then notched a 10-6 win in the super-tiebreaker.
UNI will open Missouri Valley Conference play on Saturday. UNI will play host to the Drake Bulldogs at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo. The Panthers and Bulldogs will get underway at 10 a.m.
