
UNI Sweeps Evansville in Thrilling Fashion

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team swept the Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday night in the McLeod Center. The Panthers are now 11-3 in the MVC and Evansville is 3-11.
Courtney Kintzel led the Panthers with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Kinsey Caldwell tallied 29 assists and Ubben recorded 10 digs.
The Panthers jumped out to an early 7-3 lead at the first timeout of the first set. Kills by Eryca Hingtgen, Courtney Kintzel, and Macy Ubben helped increase UNI's lead to 14-7 over Evansville. The Panthers cruised through the rest of the set and won it 25-12. The Panthers hit .407 in this set to Evansville's -.031
UNI had a strong 6-0 start to the second set. Hingtgen, Leigh Pudwill, and Ubben contributed kills that helped the Panthers increase their lead to nine, at 12-3. UNI dominated their remainder of the set and won it 25-11 to take the 2-0 match lead.
With the score tied 7-7 in the third set, a kill by Ubben and a bad set by Evansville gave UNI the 9-7 lead. The Panthers then went on a 6-3 run to increase their lead to 15-10 at the first timeout of the set. UNI held onto the lead throughout the remainder of the set and won it 25-16 and the match 3-0.
The Panthers return to action on Thursday night when they travel to Normal to take on Illinois State at 7:35 p.m.
