UNI wraps up action at Kansas Classic Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Northern Iowa swimming team finished up at the Kansas Classic Invitational this afternoon. The University of Kansas took first place at their invitational with a total of 932.5 points and Iowa State finished second. UNI finished sixth and received some great individual performances.
Sophomore Taylor Ostrowski placed 5th of 24 participants in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.41. Ostrowski also showed well in the 400 yard IM -- placing 13th of 35 participants with a final time of 4:41.93.
Freshman Veronica Herrmann placed in the top half of both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events. In the 100 she placed 12th with a final time of 1:07.91. In the 200 yard breaststroke Herrmann finished in 13th with a time of 2:26.89.
Freshman Aftin Phyfe placed in 15th of a group of 52 competitors in the 200 yard freestyle. Phyfe finished with a time of 1:56.27. Phyfe also recorded a 14th place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke with a finals time of 53:39.
Northwestern TYR Invitational (Diving Only)
Evanston, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa divers were in Evanston Illinois participating with eight other schools at the Northwestern TYR Invitational.
UNI divers Ashlynn Clingman, Allie Bey and Sarah Kemp each tallied points in the 1 and 3 meter dives.
In the 1 meter dive freshman Ashlynn Clingman recorded a score of 203.60. In the 3 meter dive sophomore Allie Bey received a score of 223.95. Sophomore Sarah Kemp rounded out the diving scores with a 154.25 in the 3 meter.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, December 6th when they will participate in the Nebraska-Omaha Invitational. The event will go through Saturday.
