
Panthers Fall to Hawkeyes

WATERLOO, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team fell to the University of Iowa on Sunday afternoon, three to zero.
Iowa scored in the 34th minute when Cloe LaCasse raced ahead of two UNI defenders and beat the keeper for the score. The Hawkeyes added a goal in the 51st minute when Lacasse and Anne Marie Thomas found Ashely Catrell for the shot and score from the six-yard box. Iowa then tacked on another score in the 80th minute when Brooke Backes found Nicole Urban for the score.
The Hawkeyes outshot the Panthers, 20-11, including an advantage of seven to two in shots on goal, and held the advantage in corner kicks, four to three.
Sophomore Madisen Garman put her only shot of the afternoon on goal for the Panthers and freshman Maggie Riley added the only other shot on goal for UNI. Riley finished with two shots, sophomore Caitlyn Fuller tallied two shots, and freshman Annie Dale added two shots in the match. Seniors Kelsey Dolder and Kiki McClellan, and juniors Claire Clark and Allie Brees registered one shot on the day.
Junior goalkeeper Erin Zaideman posted four saves while allowing three goals; the most UNI has given up to any opponent this season.
The Panthers will be back in action on Fri., Aug. 31 when they play Green Bay in the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Tournament. The game will be played on a neutral field in Edwardsville, Ill. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
