
UNI WBB Battles Iowa State, falls 67-59

Jacqui Kalin led the team in scoring with 19 points, adding three assists, two steals and six rebounds to her stat line. Jen Keitel notched her first double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Panthers hit two three-pointers for their first two field goals of the game off of big shots from Jess McDowell and Brooke Brown. Kalin added another three points from the arc to tie the score 9-9 with 15:37 left in the first half.
Iowa State took the lead with 15:08 on the clock off a jumper from Anna Prins, but the Panther defense kept the Cyclones from scoring on their next two possessions. McDowell forced an Iowa State travel and Hannah Schonhardt was able to come up with a steal to keep the ball out of their basket.
UNI took a 12-11 lead with 12:51 left in the half off a stylish three-pointer from Schonhardt. Schonhardt's three-pointer was the fourth of the game for the Panthers. The Cyclones were able to take-off on a 6-0 run sparked by two three-pointers making the score 17-12.
The Cyclones went on another run late in the half, keeping the Panthers from scoring on five straight possessions. Kalin was able to score UNI's first field goal since the 7:53 mark in the half off a layup with 4:28 on the clock.
Keitel cut the Cyclone lead to 13 points with less than two minutes left in the half off her second career three-pointer to make the score 33-20. Iowa State entered halftime with the 33-20 lead shooting 51.9 percent from the field.
Kalin cut the Iowa State lead to 10 points early in the second half off her second three pointer of the game, making the score 33-23 with 19:05 on the clock. Brown knocked down her second three-pointer of the game with 17:09 left in the game making the score 36-26 to keep the deficit at 10 points.
Kalin cut the lead again with 14:44 left on the clock, dicing through the Cyclone defense for a layup. The Cyclones were able to convert on their next possession off a jumper by Prins, but Kalin answered again with a key three-pointer making the score 38-31.
Stephanie Davison hit her first field goal of the game cutting the Cyclone lead to nine points with 8:43 left in the half, making the score 48-39. Brittni Donaldson then hit a huge three-pointer, along with getting fouled to cut the Iowa State lead to 51-45 with 5:36 left in the half.
Schonhardt added to the UNI run with the Panthers' 10th three-pointer of the game cutting the score to 53-48 with less than five minutes left in the game. Keitel hit her second three-pointer of the game with 2:55 left in the half to make it 56-51.
The Cyclones were able to answer on their next three possessions to go on a 6-0 run, giving them an 11 point lead with less than a minute remaining. Schonhardt ended their run scoring off a hard fought layup with 57 seconds left to make the score 62-53.
The Panthers were forced to start the fouling process late in the last minute of the game, with the Cyclones extending their lead to 66-55. Brown hit two free throws with 15 seconds left to cut the score to 66-57, but the Panthers eventually fell 67-59.
Post-Game Notes vs. Iowa State
Jen Keitel finished with a season and career high 12 rebounds. This was also her first collegiate double-double finishing with 10 points.
Jacqui Kalin scored in double figures for the ninth game this season. She finished with 19 points.
