WBB Falls 66-63 In Hard Fought Battle Against ASU

Jacqui Kalin and Jess McDowell led the team in scoring with 14 points each. Sharnae Lamar added 11 points during a career high 34 minutes of playing time.
The Panthers went into halftime down by six points, but outscored the Sun Devils by two points in the second half. UNI and ASU battled to 10 lead changes during the game.
The UNI Panthers fought back against an eight-point deficit with 19:40 left in the second half going on a 7-2 run sparked by Brittni Donaldson hitting three free throws and Lamar and Jen Keitel both getting lay-ups.
Kalin tied the score up 40-40 at the 13:58 mark before heading into the second media timeout of the half. The Panthers were down six with 10:01 left in the game when Donaldson got a defensive rebound that led to a Kalin lay-up, cutting the lead to four points.
UNI fought back from another five point deficit when ASU was leading 60-55 with 4:18 left in the game. Hannah Schonhardt hit a pivotal three-pointer to cut the lead again.
Kalin got a defensive rebound with 25 seconds left in the game and raced down the court to score another lay-up putting the Panthers only two points down. The Panthers were forced to foul, but ASU hit their free throws making it 65-61 with 13 seconds left.
Lamar scored her 11th point of the game off a lay-up with six seconds left cutting the lead to 65-63, but ASU was able to convert one of their free throws after a Panther foul, giving the Sun Devils the victory.
The UNI women's basketball team will return to action tomorrow Nov. 24 when they take on the Florida Gators at 2:00 p.m. CT.
Post-Game Notes vs. ASU
Jess McDowell scored a career and season high 14 points against the Sun Devils. She tied her career high of five field goals made in a game and set a new career high with four three-pointers made.
Sharnae Lamar scored a career and season high 11 points against ASU. She set a new career high in field goals made with four and tied her career high in free throws made with three.
Brittni Donaldson tied her career high in rebounds with six against ASU. She also notched six rebounds against Chicago State last season.
