
UNI Gets Sweep in Final Road Match of Regular Season

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team got the 3-0 sweep of the Evansville Purple Aces Saturday night in Indiana. This was the final road match of the regular season for the Panthers.
Megan Lehman led the Panthers with 14 kills and a .375 hitting percentage, and Macy Ubben followed with 13 kills. Molly Turk notched 48 assists and Amy Braun led with a season high 20 digs.
With the score tied at 10-10 in the first set, a kill by Ubben helped to start a 5-1 run by the Panthers to give them the 15-11 lead. Evansville fought their way back to eventually tie the set up at 19-19. An attack error by Evansville, a kill by Ubben and a service ace by Jenny Willms in the next several plays helped UNI to take the 22-19 lead. They went on to win the set 25-20.
UNI jumped out to an early 9-3 lead in the second set. Evansville brought the match to within one at 13-12, but an attack error by the Purple Aces helped to spark a 6-0 run by the Panthers to give them the 19-12 lead. UNI kept this pace up throughout the rest of the set and won it 25-17.
In the third set, the score was tied up at 7-7 when an Evansville service error helped the Panthers go 4-0 and give them the 11-7 lead. The Purple Aces slowly started coming back until the score was tied at 17-17. Kills by Braun and Ubben in the next several plays helped UNI take the 21-17 lead. The Panthers held the lead the rest of the set and won it 25-22 and getting the 3-0 match sweep.
The Panthers return to the McLeod Center next Saturday for their final game of the regular season. They will take on Bradley at 7:00 p.m.
