Panthers End Regular Season with Sweep of Bradley

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team got the 3-0 sweep of Bradley Saturday night in the McLeod Center. This was Senior Night and the final regular season match for the Panthers.
UNIwill go into the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament next week with the No. 2 seed.
Krista DeGeest and Megan Lehman led the way for the Panthers with 11 kills each, and Macy Ubben led with a .412 hitting percentage. Molly Turk recorded 34 assists and Jenny Willms notched 10 digs.
With the score tied at 8-8 in the first set, a kill by Lehman gave the Panthers the 9-8 lead. UNI increased their lead to 12-10 when they went on a 7-0 run to give them the 19-10 lead. Bradley could not keep up with this Panther pace and UNI won the set 25-17.
The second set started out similar to the first. The teams were tied at 10-10 when a kill by Ubben sparked a 7-2 run to make it 17-12, Panthers. UNI continued their dominance throughout the rest of the set and won it 25-17.
UNI jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the third set. The Braves fought their way back though to tie it up at 8-8. An attack error by Bradley ignited an dominant 9-1 run by the Panthers to make it 17-9. UNI commanded the rest of the set and won it 25-13 and the match 3-0.
UNI will travel to Springfield, Mo., next week for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Panthers have secured the No. 2 seed and will play the winner of the No. 6 Missouri State vs. No. 3 Wichita State match on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Friday's semifinal can be seen live on ESPN3.
