UNI Opens Exhibition Play With 84-48 Win Over Briar Cliff

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team opened exhibition play with an 84-48 win over Briar Cliff University in the McLeod Center.
UNI was led in scoring by sophomore Nate Buss, who poured in a game-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor. Buss came off the bench and buried his first five shots of the game. Buss also added five rebounds on the day.
Twelve of UNI's 13 players that saw action scored in the exhibition opener vs. the Chargers. BCU's Turner Fahey scored 17 points to lead the Chargers.
The Panthers led 41-15 at the half.
UNI will be in action again next Sunday (Nov. 4) with its final exhibition game against Northern State at 5:30 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
NOTES: UNI improved to 23-0 in exhibiton play since Panther head coach Ben Jacobson joined the program in 2001 ... UNI buried 7-of-12 3-pointers, including a team-high three from junior Chip Rank ... sophomore guard Deon Mitchell dished out a game-high six assists ... redshirt freshman forward Chris Olivier recorded a game-high seven rebounds in the win.
