Panthers Fall on Road to Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Indiana - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team dropped their contest with the Evansville Purple Aces on Saturday afternoon, 2-0.
Kayla Smith opened the scoring for Evansville in the 54th minute when Tatiana Pagan found Smith ahead of the UNI defense. Smith capitalized on the opportunity from five yards out, burying the shot in the back of the net. The Purple Aces added an insurance goal in the 75th minute when Stephanie Thompson beat the UNI keeper for the score.
Senior Melissa Hagan led the offensive attack on the afternoon for the Panthers, firing one of her four shots on goal. Junior Allie Brees tallied one shot and sophomore Caitlyn Fuller chipped in with one shot that was pushed wide right.
Junior goalkeeper Erin Zaideman tallied four saves and allowed two goals to the Purple Aces in the match.
Evansville outshot the Panthers 11 to six, including a mark of six to one in shots on goal. UNI held the advantage in corner kicks, six to three.
UNI (7-9-1, 2-2-1 MVC) will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 25, when they conclude their regular season with their final Missouri Valley Conference match against the Creighton Bluejays. The game will be played at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex with first kick slated for 7:00 p.m.
