
UNI Drops Contest to In-State Rival Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team dropped a road contest at Iowa on Weds. Sept. 14, 2-0.
The Hawkeyes got on the scoreboard in the 24th minute when Leah DeMoss found the back of the net. DeMoss then added an insurance goal in the 47th minute to seal the win for Iowa.
The Panthers were outshot in the game 12-6. Iowa and UNI were even in shots on goal at 4 a-piece. UNI held the advantage in corner kicks, 2-1.
Senior Kala Negus led the Panther offensive attack tallying two shots on the night with one shot on goal. Freshman Madisen Garman, sophomore Grace Schield, and senior Missy Journot each added a shot on goal for UNI, and junior Kiki McClellan also recorded a shot for the Panthers.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Zaideman earned the starting nod for the Panthers, tallying two saves in the match.
UNI (3-5-1) returns home on Sun., Sept. 18th to square off with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Youth Soccer Complex.
