Panthers Cruise Past Creighton at MVC Championships

St. Louis, Mo.- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team swept Creighton University 4-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. The Panthers now move on to play Illinois State, who beat Drake earlier today.
The Panthers got the early lead on the Bluejays after winning both the doubles matches. Laia Gonzalez-Garrido defeated Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder of Creighton 8-3 in the No. 1 spot. Jessica Kunzelmann and Krissy Lankelma went on to win their No. 3 doubles match as well, cruising past twins Sarah and Leesa Cadwallader 8-1.
The Panther went on to make quick work of the Bluejays in singles play. Walker took down Kirshenbaum of Creighton 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 match. Chelsea Moore dominated her No. 5 match, defeating S. Cadwallader 6-1, 6-1. Lankelma blew past Creighton's L. Cadwallader 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 match.
The Panther women will return to the court tomorrow to take on the Illinois State Redbirds in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament. The match is set for a start time of 1:00 p.m.
