The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer program has announced it will be hosting four camps during the summer of 2011.
The camps will kick off with a Girls Weekend Elite Camp scheduled for July 22-24, which is designed for high school-aged girls who are looking to sharpen their technical and tactical ability and also gain knowledge of how to be prepared for the college game. Campers will enjoy field sessions working on various technical skills along with game-related tactical instruction, weight room instruction, recruiting advice and academic preparation. Goalkeeper sessions are also provided.
From July 25-28, UNI will be hosting the Soccer/Swim Day Camp for boys and girls ages 6-14. Campers will enjoy age-related soccer activities in the morning aimed at developing their technical skills in a fun environment. The afternoon will be split between a refreshing indoor pool session in the UNI Wellness/Recreation Center and tournament style soccer in the UNI-Dome.
UNI will offer a Boys Weekend Elite Camp from July 29-31 to mirror the Girls Weekend Elite Camp one week earlier. The camp is designed for high school-aged boys who are looking to sharpen their technical and tactical ability and also gain knowledge of how to be prepared for the college game. Campers will enjoy field sessions working on various technical skills along with game-related tactical instruction, weight room instruction, recruiting advice and academic preparation.
The final camp offered will be the World Cup Camp from Aug. 1-5, open to boys and girls ages 6-17. Because 2011 is a women's World Cup year, campers will be split into age-appropriate teams named after a World Cup-participating country. Skill instruction will be followed by tournament play in a fun and relaxed environment. UNI players and coaches will be on hand to provide guidance and officiating of the games.
Primary camp instruction will be handled by UNI head soccer coach James Price and assistant coach Sonia Rodriguez.
