Panthers Sweep the Kangaroos at Home

Waterloo, Iowa.- The UNI women's tennis team came out strong at home today against UMKC, defeating the Kangaroos 7-0.
Laia Gonzalez-Garrido and Phoebe Walker defeated Chelsea Horner and Eva Dalvai of UMKC 8-5 in the No. 1 Doubles match. In the No. 2 Doubles match, Jessica Kunzelmann and Krissy Lankelma beat the UMKC team of Suzan Lisenby and Laura Bouet 8-4. Chelsea Moore and Lara Okicki defeated Jillian Yakominich and Gaby Pintos of UMKC 8-0 in the No. 3 Doubles match.
UNI continued to roll through singles play. Walker defeated Dalvai of UMKC 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 1 Singles match. In the No. 2 Singles match, Gonzalez beat UMKC's Bouet 6-0, 6-3. Okicki earned her first collegiate victory in the No. 3 Singles match, defeating Horner 6-4, 6-2. Kunzelmann cruised by Lisenby of UMKC 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 4 Singles match. In the No. 5 Singles match, Lankelma defeated Yakominich 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. Moore cruised past UMKC's Pintos 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6 Singles match.
Head Coach Sachin Kirtane had this to say about the match. “It was a good start for us and a good win. We played well this time around.”
UNI returns to the court tonight to face the South Dakota Coyotes at 6 p.m. at the Black Hawk Tennis Club.
